The main story of the tournament is certainly fnatic, not only because of their overall victory, but also due to coming to the tournament with a lineup change, introducing Finn "karrigan" Andersen instead of long-time in-game leader Patrik "cArn" Sättermon. That change also brought out Richard "Xizt" Landström as the team's new leader and his debut was perfect, seeing as his team lost only one map on the way to the title.

Natus Vincere were expectedly seen in the final as one of the main favorites, but they were early on outshined by the surprise of the tournament, WinFakt.

The Finns came to the tournament with a stand-in Miikka "dRiim" Toroi instead of their leader Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen and managed to overcome Natus Vincere in the upper quarter-final and then another favorite SK Gaming in the upper semi-final.

Among other positive surprises we have German team Alternate, who defeated Lemondogs in quarter-final to secure a 5-6th placing.

On the other hand, the biggest disappointment were the current IEM6 World Champions ESC Gaming, who were eliminated by Anexis at 9-12th place, after being dropped to lower bracket by the eventual champions.

Another disappointment were SK Gaming, who also didn't reach their expected top three placement, with losses to WinFakt and Lemondogs making them finish 5-6th.
